What is Dehydrocholic Acid ?

Dehydrocholic Acid, molecular formula C24H34O5, molecular weight 402.52376 is prepared by hydrogenation of cholic acid extracted from animal bile. It is a semi-synthetic bile acid made of cholic acid and is a white loose powder; it is odorless and has a bitter taste. Mp 231-242ºC, melting distance within 3ºC. It is soluble in sodium hydroxide test solution, slightly soluble in chloroform, slightly soluble in ethanol, and almost insoluble in water. This product is good for bile and promotes bile secretion. It can stimulate liver cells to secrete a large amount of bile with low specific gravity and low viscosity, and promote the drainage of bile, which is beneficial to bacteria, inflammatory products, toxins, bile sand and small stones in the bile duct and gallbladder Exhaust plays the role of flushing and cleaning the biliary system.
